Lindsey Walker
Ph.D. Candidate
Lindsey Walker is a Design Construction Planning Ph.D. student at the University of Florida. Lindsey is a pattern seeker, a problem solver, a connector of concepts, and a whimsical user of the word ‘why.’ Lindsey holds a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and a master of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Florida State University.
Through Lindsey’s academic graduate training and professional purists, her research interests have focused on the dynamic communications of teams and the intersection with the built environment. For her ongoing doctoral research, she examines the interrelationship between communication level and physical proximity while examining homophily within a team structure, spatial distance in the workplace, and perceived communication networks formed in teams. Through understanding the frequency and perceived quality of communication, the study aims to meaningfully operationalize project teams’ structure, fueling projects with differing ideas and informing the physical layout of design team workspaces by measuring communication patterns.
She is committed to innovative processes, inventing solutions, expressing empathy, and aligning academic research and industry application.
